Some Tips About Storage
You need to get packing - so here are Ready Steady Store's simple storage tips.
Follow these to help make storing your things safe, simple and easy.
- Use our trolleys to move your things : Unload your goods in the loading bay and use the available trolleys to transport your goods to your unit. Do not overload the trolley.
- Pack your things well : You can find a wide range of packing materials to protect your goods, including moving boxes, wardrobe boxes, bubble wrap, tape, tissue paper and much more. Make sure your goods are well protected for the move and storage.
- Put least-used and bulky items into your room first : You may need to access some of your things more frequently than others...so put these aside and store them last. It's normally best to put bulky and heavy items into the room first.
- Stack from back to front : Obvious really, but start stacking your things at the back of your room first.
- Use the wallspace in your room : If necessary you can buy or hire shelving units.
- Use a dust sheet : Place a dust sheet on the floor to protect your goods.
- Leave awkward shapes till last : Odd shaped items should be packed last as it's hard to stack around them.
- Pack according to the season : In summer, put summer stuff at the front so it is easy to access.
- Don't stack breakables : When packing plates and glasses in boxes, file them, do not stack them.
- Use brown paper to wrap : Avoid using newspaper as it can stain your things.
- Use small boxes for books : Otherwise you might not be able to lift them safely.
- Stack sofas on end : This can create more space in your room...for extra protection use our sofa covers.
- Use Tables : They may appear large, but don't forget you can pack around and on top of them - legs can also often be removed.
- Use bubble wrap for pictures and mirrors : Cloth is not good enough protection.
- Cover your things : When all your items have been placed in the unit, place a dust sheet over your goods to protect them.
