Van Hire
Moving your things is easy when you hire a Ready Steady Store van.
Our vans are big enough to handle the contents of a two bedroom house and have a tail lift to make loading easier. Choose a convenient and affordable way to move your things.
Hire by the half day, day or weekend and we also have partners to recommend if you are looking for a removal service.
In addition you can get a wide range of packing materials to protect your belongings in transit, and free use of trolleys and handling equipment to make it easy to unload your goods.

Driving tips
- Adjust mirrors before setting off.
- A longer stopping distance is required in general and more so when loaded.
- Ensure extra room is allowed when turning, go slowly and turn after a corner to allow the back of the van to get around.
- Be aware of blind spots at the side of the van especially when changing lanes.
- The van is 10ft 10" or 3.3m high so look out for overhanging trees, bridges and petrol stations with low canopies.
- On motorways be aware of the affect of strong winds on a high sided vehicle.
- When reversing get someone to guide you back.
- If you are alone get out and look before reversing remember to put the handbrake on first.
- Be aware of the position of the front of the van.
- Reverse slowly and place hazard lights on when reversing in busy areas.
Packing and loading tips
- Load heavy items opposite each other to evenly distribute weight, this will help with the handling of the vehicle.
- Load only light items above the cab of the van.
- Do not overload the van. The weight limit is 500 KGS evenly spread across the whole floor area.
- Use the straps provided to secure items that may move in the back of the van whilst in transit.
- NEVER leave the tail lift up when the van is unattended as this causes a danger to pedestrians and vehicles.
- When lowering the tail lift ensure there are no obstructions, such as feet, below the tail lift.
- Make sure the tail lift is secure before setting off after use with the safety cut out switch.
