Decluttering Your Home

How to raise productivity with your office decor

The design of your office has a surprisingly strong effect on the way employees work. From their mood and mental outlook to productivity and performance, interior design has the ability to raise these levels instantly.

A working environment should inspire your team and awaken them first thing in the morning. Give your office a personality that reflects your ethos using our tips on raising productivity with some easy decor changes.

Colour
Dull, drab offices are highly unlikely to spark the creativity of your team, nor are clinical white walls. Give your office a pop of colour by incorporating bright pieces of art, desk decor and feature walls into the room.

You may like the look of that daffodil yellow now, but you may be put off when your eyes are half open at 9 am in the morning. Make sure you go bright but not brash by choosing classy colours that never go out of style.

A surefire way of doing so is by using the company’s branding for inspiration and choosing muted colours that aren’t too in your face.

Quiet spaces
Everyone knows about the importance of social spaces, but what if your employee needs a moment to relax? Breaks will rejuvenate them, but only if they have a space to get away from the hustle and bustle of the office. Having a designated quiet space also gives employees the opportunity to focus on a project without being disturbed by others.

If you have an extra room, put a few desks in there and let workers hot desk when they see fit. On the other hand, those with limited office space can declutter with the help of a storage unit and use dividers to create a calm area that’s separate from the rest of the room.

Plants
Greenery has been a huge trend in the interior design world as of late, which is no surprise when you consider the multitude of benefits that come with them.

It’s thought that having plants on your desk increases cognitive attention as well as productivity levels, as well as improving air quality. Succulents don’t need a lot of attention either, so there’s no reason why you can’t put some natural leafy decor around the office.

Quality technology
Let’s face it: slow computers and bulky printers aren’t going to get the best out of your team. In fact, they’ll cause delays and plenty of frustration, neither of which are great for productivity.

Once you’ve replaced your outdated tech, don’t be in a rush to throw them all away. It’s good to have a back-up plan should things go wrong, which is why you should put some spare computers and the like into a secure unit. That way, you’ll only have a short drive if your computer breaks down rather than having to replace it entirely.

Having a storage unit allows you to declutter without throwing away equipment you may need down the line. Ready Steady Store has storage units all over the country, so you’re belongings will never be too far away.
