Yes. If you’re moving house, relocating your business, or simply need a unit closer to you, you can transfer your storage to another Ready Steady Store location. We would need to end your agreement at the current store and start a new contract at the new location. You will not be charged a notice period during this transfer and any credit or debit balance on your account will be carried forward to the new agreement.

There are no legal restrictions on using a storage unit as a workshop. However, individual providers may have their own restrictions built into tenancy agreements. In the case of Ready Steady Store, we allow our customers to use storage units as a workshop as long no flammable or combustible materials – such as gas, petrol, oil, solvents or paint – are kept in the unit.

• 24 hour CCTV trained on entrances and exits across our premises, as well as monitoring activity inside out buildings (our staff monitor them during office hours, while our surveillance partner monitors them outside of office hours) 
• High perimeter fencing  
• Unique PIN access buildings and electronic gates (so only customers can access our stores outside office hours) 
• Padlock and key access for peace of mind. Unlock your padlock using the corresponding key; you’re the only person who can access your belongings 

Our buildings are only accessible by PIN code access doors, meaning only our staff and customers can get access. We’re also able to record everyone who enters and exits as a result. Our units are only accessible by you, and some of our stores offer individually alarmed units for added peace of mind.

The minimum storage agreement is four weeks. You can store your items for a shorter period, but you will still need to pay the minimum four-week price. There is no maximum storage period, so you can continue using your self storage unit for as long as you need it. We offer a Gold Standard Contents Protection Plan, provided by our partners Gallagher & Co. specialists in self storage insurance and affiliates of the Self Storage Association UK.

It’s a new-for-old policy; if an insured item is damaged or lost, it’s replaced with a new one of similar quality.

The cost of cover depends on the value of the items you store, ensuring you only pay for the protection you need.

Using your own insurance
You may be able to use your existing home contents insurance, but it must specifically cover goods in self storage.

We’ll need confirmation from your insurer, typically a letter showing your policy meets our minimum cover requirements.

Before arriving at store you will need to complete our online checkin, this will take approximately 15 minutes. This can be completed using a PC, laptop,  tablet, in conjunction with your smartphone.  It is mandatory to complete before arriving at store.

To complete you Online check in you will need:

1. A valid Photo ID – either a passport or a full driving licence
2. Credit or Debit card – to make you first payment
3. Your bank details – to set up payments for future invoices
4. Contents Protection – We can provide you with our own affordable Contents Protection Plan. If you are planning to use your own contents cover you will need a letter from your insurance provider.  Our Customer Service team will contact you to verify should you use your own insurance
5. Download the Ready Steady Store App – you will need this to enter the site and use the smart locks for extra convienence

There is a 45kg weight restriction per sq ft for storing your belongings at Ready Steady Store.

Individual items – Heavy items such as safes, machinery, or gym equipment can be stored, but they must be safe to move and positioned carefully inside the unit.

Stacking – Our units are designed for typical household and business goods. To avoid damage, please don’t overload boxes or stack items unsafely.

Moving equipment – Trolleys are available at all stores to help you move items safely.

Restricted items – Hazardous or industrial-weight goods may not be permitted, ask our Customer Service Team if you are unsure.

Ready Steady Store is designed primarily for self storage, where customers bring and manage their own goods. We do not provide full-scale pallet racking or warehouse forklift services.

Yes, the minimum charge period is four weeks. Whether you need storage for one day, one week, or longer, you will always be charged this 4 week minimum period even when notice is applied.

• Cars & small vans – All stores allow access for cars and standard-sized vans.
• Larger vans & lorries – Many stores can accommodate larger vehicles, some access routes may be limited
• Parking – Customer parking and loading bays are available at most stores for convenient loading/unloading.
• Drive-up units – Selected stores offer outdoor drive-up storage for direct vehicle-to-unit access.
